Spreadsheets are essential to every internet marketer. You may not think so when you first begin, but it won't be long before you will realize that they are truly a life saver. Google spreadsheets are extremely easy to use, you simply enter your information under the columns so that you have it all in one place for when you need it.
They are an absolute must for keeping track of your domains, pages within your domains, articles which you publish, earnings, expenses, and so much more. If you do not keep track of all this, then eventually you will find yourself in such a mess that you will not know how to get out of it. So you might as well start off by doing it right.
With Google Spreadsheets you can have many sheets within one main sheet, so you can keep all your information from one niche all in one place. For example, one sheet would be for all your domain names in that niche, another sheet for pages within each domain, another for the promotional articles, or Hubpages, or Squidoo, and so on.
If you are new to internet marketing you may not understand why you need to do this, so let me explain.
The reason you should keep track of each page within a certain website is because it will save a lot of time when you want to create a link to a certain page. You will have all your pages in one place, with the title of the page and the URL so you can create that link in a snap without having to search your website, or trying to remember the URL.
The same goes for articles, Hubpages, and Squidoo lenses, having them all in one place helps you to easily grab the URL so you can link to them.
Building links to your webpages is not something which you do once and then forget about it, instead, you have to continuously keep building links to each page in your website.
Spreadsheets are also a great way for you to keep track of all the usernames and passwords associated with all your different accounts such as social networking sites, bookmarking sites, blogs, and others.
If you are planning on doing affiliate marketing, then you should also keep track of all your affiliate links, so you don't have to go back and recreate each link every time you decide to promote the same product. You can even insert images with an image URL so you know exactly what each link is.
If you have products to sell, you need to keep track of them as well, including the price, and quantity if they are physical products.
Last but not least, you want to keep track of all your earnings, and the best way to do that is with a spreadsheet. Simply list all the companies who will be paying you, and then enter in the amount of money as it comes your way.
No matter what your business is, you need a spreadsheet to keep track of your business information, and Google Spreadsheets is my personal favorite.
To start using Google Spreadsheets, simply go to your Google account and find the product page, and the spreadsheets can be accessed through Google Docs. If you don't have a Google account you can go to google.com and register for free.
